THE CONCLAVE
Arunachal Pradesh, situated strategically in the border areas of the northeastern region of India, occupies 83,743 sq. kms and has a population of 1.3 million (2011 Census). It is the largest state in the region, yet with the thinnest density of population of only
17 persons / sq. km.
The State, rich in its diversity of communities is also abounding in natural resources- especially water and forests and has an equally vibrant flora and fauna. And while it contains a great cultural and natural resource diversity, it also has accompanying challenges.
With Arunachal having completed 30 years of Statehood, accompanied by changing aspirations of what constitutes the idea of development,
a time has perhaps come to revisit its policy road map and shape a new development discourse for the State and its people.
It is with this backdrop that the present Conclave seeks to initiate a dialogue that will bring forth issues and concerns and emerge with a collective voice on how to perhaps re-frame policies and implement them for the holistic development of the tribal communities in the State.
The deliberations have been structured under the following thematic clusters:
